How to collect clouds, with Gavin Pretor-Pinney

A tour of the sky, from the common Cumulus to the rare and fleeting Kelvin-Helmholtz wave cloud

Gavin shows how to distinguish the different formations and why you should start your own cloud collection.

Don’t be brainwashed by the sun fascists – the clouds are one of Nature’s most beautiful and varied displays. So spend an evening in the company of these ‘patron goddesses of idle fellows’.

Gavin Pretor-Pinney is the founder of The Cloud Appreciation Society, which now numbers more than 25,000 members in 88 countries. He is the author of two Sunday Times bestsellers: The Cloudspotter’s Guide and The Cloud Collector’s Handbook. Gavin co-founded The Idler, a magazine that defends the noble art of doing nothing. He is a visiting Fellow of Reading University and an Honorary Member of the Astronomers Association of Kurdistan. Gavin's latest book, The Wavewatcher's Companion, is out in paperback this spring.
